International Conference on Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Foreign Language Education
Greater student mobility, increasing demand for access to tertiary education, as well as policy changes have spurred rapid expansion of the global higher education sector. However, with increased demand comes considerable variation in the quality of the supply. As higher education is an expensive endeavor for all stakeholders – governments, funders, employers, and families – there are also increasing expectations for accountability and demonstrations of quality. English as a foreign language (EFL) programs, in particular, are under considerable pressure to substantiate their value, resulting in a significant rise in interest around their quality.
This scenario is playing out in all corners of the globe, with an especially high level of activity within Turkey and its surrounding neighbors. For this reason, we have organized this conference around the issues and challenges related to Quality Assurance and Accreditation of foreign language programs.
This two-day conference will bring together academecians and practitioners to discuss critical issues around quality, specialized accreditation; from global trends to regional trends to best practices at the local level.
Participants will gain not only information on what is taking place at the regional and local levels, but they will walk away with content from best-practices workshops that they can begin to implement on Monday morning.
Perhaps most importantly, we believe that the nature of this conference is essential to the degree thatwe are not charging a Registration Fee. This is only possible through the generous support of our Sponsors. Furthermore, one critical outcome of this meeting will be a published volume of relevant papers - both presented at the conference, or in line with the major themes of the conference.
We look forward to hosting you in Bandirma this coming May, and we are confident that this conference will provide the conceptual and practical knowledge and skills to boost quality and accreditation efforts back on your campus.
