Job Opportunities at BANU-SOFL

The process differs for citizens of the Republic of Turkey and foreign faculty candidates.

  • Candidates who are citizens of the Republic of Turkey should follow the announcements posted on the official websites of Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University and the School of Foreign Languages.

Before applying, foreign candidates must ensure that they meet the Special Conditions for Employing Foreign Faculty Members, which came into effect on January 20, 2020.

 

Special Conditions for Employing Foreign Faculty Members

Employment in Foreign Language Preparatory Classes

The minimum requirements for the employment of foreign instructors in the preparatory classes of higher education institutions are as follows:

  1. For native English speakers: They must have at least a bachelor's degree in fields such as linguistics, language and literature, comparative literature, teaching, or educational sciences (pedagogy). Alternatively, they must hold at least a bachelor's degree and meet at least one of the following conditions:
    a) Have a minimum of 2 (two) years of work experience teaching the relevant language at an internationally recognized accredited language teaching center,
    b) Hold a DELTA, CELTA or TESOL/ TEFL certificate.
  2. For non-native English speakers: They must have at least a bachelor's degree in fields such as English Language, English Literature, or English Language Teaching, and meet at least one of the following conditions:
    a) Have a minimum of 2 (two) years of work experience teaching the relevant language at an internationally recognized accredited language teaching center,b) Hold a DELTA, CELTA or TESOL/ TEFL certificate.
  3. For the teaching of foreign languages other than English: Foreign faculty members must have at least a bachelor's degree in the relevant language and meet at least one of the following conditions:
    a) Have at least two years of work experience in teaching the relevant language,
    b) Have at least one year of academic work experience.

Other Provisions

  1. The above requirements do not apply to foreign faculty members employed without pay under the scope of visiting lecturers, international agreements, inter-institutional bilateral agreements, and exchange programs. Employment in such cases is conducted in accordance with the applicable legislative provisions.
  2. The above conditions apply to foreign faculty members proposed for new employment as of January 20, 2020. However, foreign faculty members already working in higher education institutions and deemed beneficial for continued employment may be granted an extension of up to two periods of six months each to meet these requirements from the end of their contract. If the requirements are not met by the end of these extension periods, their contracts will not be renewed.
